I'm in Rio for Vice for about 9 days shooting a series of short format subjects for our Daily Vice show. Rio is vibrant and amazing. I'm using duolingo app to learn as much Portuguese as I can but my instinct to speak Spanish sometimes makes it difficult. Many words carry over but many others do not.
Working with my favorite C300mkii and a slate of other, consumer cameras. The difference not just in picture quality but in reliability is made so crystal clear in scenarios like this. You can get all the Zacuto stuff you want for your dslr but when you're one-man-band in a foreign land with just two hands, you need gear that you don't have to coddle or treat carefully. We have already killed an A6300 and the Movi is completely on the fritz but the c300 and (surprisingly) the DJI Osmo keep on trucking.
We're using mostly canon zooms with the exception of this vintage Nikkor 55mm f1.2 that I got online. It's interesting and uncoated and totally weird when it's wide open but a solid interview or low light lens in the right scenario.
