We traveled to South Carolina to meet and spend time with CJ Cummings - a 16 year old olympic weightlifter who's breaking world records left and right. CJ is a super quiet, low key kid who goes to the gym every day and puts in the time needed.
These types of projects are fun because its process oriented so there are plenty of visual elements to play around with. I like to try to find new angles and new perspectives that help to illustrate the mechanics of every little motion. Normally, I hate the use of slow motion for "style" or "mood" and I feel that sports is one of the few types of activities that warrant it. Things tend to happen too fast for any non-expert to understand so overcranking can shed a little more light on the process.
